Hey boys and girls, it's been a very long while since we've updated on anything. Pretty much all of us have been busy. Like really busy. Anyways, if we haven't did it probably now is a good time, Happy Belated New Year! Ok lame, sorry.

Now we wanna let you in on what is the progress for our recording. Most of us are in the process of getting the cash. Once we have enough, it's a done deal with the studio. We will try our very best to get that gist as soon as possible. Cause we know this whole thing is taking way too long. So let's hope that you all bare with us a little longer.

Now moving on to other things. As some or most of you might know, our friends from Jackalhyde has called it quits. This somewhat happened around the late of 2006. But not everyone of them are that ready to put down their passion. So some of the guys from Jackalhyde are doing something new and henceforth the birth of Vulgate Dogmas.

9. You've probably read Young Generation magazine.You know who's Vinny the little vampire and Acai the constable.

10. You were there when they first introduced MRT here. You went for the first ride with your parents and you would kneel on the seat to see the scenery.

11. Movie tickets used to cost only $3.50.

12. Gals are fascinated by Strawberry Short Cake and Barbie Dolls.

13. You learn to laugh like The Count in Sesame Street .

14. You longed to buy tibits called Kaka (20 cents per pack), and Ding Dang (50 cents per box), that had a toy in it and it changes every week. Not forgetting the 15 cents animal crackers and the ring pop, where the lollipop is the diamond on the ring.

30. In Primary six you had to play buddy for the younger kids like big sister and brother.

31. We wear BM2000, BATA, or Pallas shoes.

32. Your form teacher taught you Maths, Science and English.

33. The worksheets were made of brown rough paper of poor quality.

34. You went to school in slippers and a raincoat when it rained, and you find a dry spot in the school to sit down, dry your feet, and wear your dry and warm socks and shoes.

35. School dismissal time was normally around 1 pm.

36. There would be spelling tests and mental sums to do almost everyday.

37. Your friends considered you lucky and rich if your parents gave you $3 or more for pocket money everyday.

38. You see Wee Kim Wee's face in the school hall.

39. You freak out when the teacher tells you to line up according to height and hold hands with the corresponding boy or girl.

40. Boys like to catch fighting spiders.

41. Collecting and battling erasers was a pastime for boys.

Please forward this message to everyone you know. There are definitely some of you who truly know what the IMF & the World Bank are about. There are definitely some of you who want to voice out your opinions but feel that there is nothing much you can do.

So here's a suggestion of what you CAN do:

For those of you interested, get a white shirt and either with 2 other friends or alone. Write a slogan reflecting what you feel with black marker or fabric paint, such as 'Capitalism Is Slavery' or 'I Murder Farmers'. If you're working in a group, you might like to break up the slogan for each member. For instance, A will have 'Capitalism', B will have 'Is' and C will have 'Slavery'. And if you're interested, distribute the factsheets on the IMF & World bank! It can be obtained here.

The venues which you might wanna focus on could be Suntec City Tower 5,City Hall, Orchard Rd. Technically, you can be anywhere and at any point of time at all. Walk around in your groups of 3s, hand out your flyers anywhere and anytime you please.

This is not a movement, this is not an organised gang. We know what we are, people who feel strongly about the issue. Globalization is a process which affects all of us, although in different ways, yet we do not get an opportunity to have our say in this. But this is something we can do that is legal and still gives us an outlet of expression. Instead of whining about not being able to do anything, let's head out and inform the rest of our fellow Singaporeans!

1. Because of the law in Singapore states that an assembly of more than 4 is considered 'Illegal Assembly', It is best to work in a group of 3, maximum.

2. Be nice to the police, they are not the 'enemy'. They're not very happy to be re-called to this. IMF duty IS taxing for them. Many of them are also reservists. They have more in common with us than those within the convention centre.

3. This is your own personal way to express how you feel about globalization and the agencies which are involved in this process. This process affects ALL of us, although in different ways, so there is no reason why we should be excluded from having our say in this matter.

4. Please note that if you happen to speak to any press, please remind yourself that you do not represent an organisation but your individual self, so please state that it is your personal opinion(unless otherwise.)

5. If you wish to say something make sure you know what you're saying and don't let them put words into your mouth, always ask where the reporters are from before you say anything. If you don't trust the paper, don't say anything. Most freelance journalists (news syndicates like Reuters of Associated Press) sell their stories to any local and/or foreign press. Don't forget that you have the right to refuse to comment.

So don't wait out on this, the program has begun and it will end on the 20th of this month. And if you can't be bothered, at least send this to people on your address book, there might be some interested.

CAIRNS, Australia - Steve Irwin, the hugely popular Australian television personality and environmentalist known as the "Crocodile Hunter," was killed Monday by a stingray while filming an underwater documentary on the Great Barrier Reef. He was 44.

Irwin was killed by a stingray barb to the heart on Batt Reef, off the remote resort town of Port Douglas in northeastern Queensland state, his wildlife park Australia Zoo said in a statement.

Crew members aboard Irwin's boat, Croc One, called emergency services in the nearest city, Cairns, and administered CPR as they rushed the boat to nearby Low Isle to meet a rescue helicopter. Medical staff pronounced Irwin dead a short time later, the statement said.

Irwin was famous for his enthusiasm for wildlife and his catchword "Crikey!" in his television program "Crocodile Hunter," which was first broadcast in Australia in 1992 and has aired around the world on the Discovery channel.

He rode his image into a feature film, and developed the Australia Zoo as a tourist attraction.

"The world has lost a great wildlife icon, a passionate conservationist and one of the proudest dads on the planet," John Stainton, Irwin's friend and producer, said in the statement. "He died doing what he loves best and left this world in a happy and peaceful state of mind. Crocs Rule!"

Foreign Minister Alexander Downer, who used a photograph of his family at Australia Zoo for his official Christmas card last year, hailed Irwin for his work in promoting Australia through projects such as "G'Day LA," an Australian tourism and trade promotion week in Los Angeles in January.

"The minister knew him, was fond of him and was very, very appreciative of all the work he'd done to promote Australia overseas," Downer's spokesman Tony Parkinson said.

Irwin's dedication to conservationist causes led him to become a vocal critic of wildlife hunts in Australia. The federal government recently dropped plans to allow crocodile safaris for wealthy tourists in the Northern Territory following his vehement objections.

Irwin told the Australian television program "A Current Affair" that "killing one of our beautiful animals in the name of trophy hunting will have a very negative impact on tourism, which scares the living daylights out of me."

However, Irwin had also received negative publicity in recent years. In January 2004, he stunned onlookers at the Australia Zoo reptile park by carrying his month-old son into a crocodile pen during a wildlife show. He tucked the infant under one arm while tossing the 13-foot reptile a piece of meat with the other.

Authorities declined to charge Irwin for violating safety regulations.

Later that year, he was accused of getting too close to penguins, a seal and humpback whales in Antarctica while making a documentary. Irwin denied any wrongdoing, and an Australian Environment Department investigation recommended no action be taken.

He is survived by his American wife Terri, from Eugene, Ore., and their daughter Bindi Sue, 8, and son Bob, who will turn 3 in December.

The couple met when she went on vacation in Australia in 1991 and visited Irwin's Australia Zoo; they were married six months later. Sometimes referred to as the Crocodile Huntress, she costarred on her husband's television show and in the 2002 movie, "The Crocodile Hunters: Collision Course."

Stingrays have flat bodies and tails with serrated spines, which contain venom and can cause cuts and puncture wounds. The creatures are not aggressive and injury usually occurs when a swimmer or diver accidentally steps on one.

The Time Has Come

Hey folks, so many of you have been asking yourself why Ultimate-Guitar.Com is still online, while most guitar tablature websites have been shut down by MPA during the past 6 months, including mxtabs, guitartabs.cc, guitartabs.com, taborama.com and mysongbook? The time has come for Ultimate-Guitar.Com to get an MPA letter as well. Surely, that was not something good, but the request to remove all tabs in 10 days.

I would not post anymore "why is it illegal?" messages, as there are enough articles on this topic, like this one from guitartabs.cc:

"At what point does describing how one plays a song on guitar become an issue of copyright infringment? This website [and tablatures], among other things, helps users teach eachother how they play guitar parts for many different songs. This is the way music teachers have behaved since the first music was ever created. The difference here is that the information is shared by way of a new technology: the Internet..."

The Story

Ultimate-Guitar.Com site, as you know, is a bit different from any other websites. We are based in Russia, thus none of US laws and authorities can force us to make anything. *surprise, surprise* However, we respect the rights of the musicians (not copyright holders, which is a big difference), thus we made some steps to ensure that they [musicians] are getting paid for the tablatures we have here.

Ultimate-Guitar.Com website is absolutely legal tablature archive which activity is based on a Russian Organization on Collective Management of Rights of Authors and Other Rightholders in Multimedia, Digital Networks & Visual Arts (ROMS)' license. ROMS is the national Russian organization providing professional collective management of authors’ property rights and protection of interests of rightsholders in cases of use of their works in digital interactive networks, including the Internet.

We pay royalties quarterly thru ROMS.

At the same time, we've tried to get in touch with all big US publishers, and we've got no response. They are NOT interested to do anything about this. The only thing they care -- is to shut down all tabs websites with no alternative to offer. From an economic standpoint, MPA activity will led to no results. Until they can offer a license to such websites or at least decided on a price per tablature, there will be dozens new tablature websites every month. Can they see this? I guess not.

Anyway, what does it mean? Nothing. We are legal. We are not going to shut down the website. All you need to know is that we will face the threat and will fight back until you're using the website, contribute and support us.

John Petrucci - Glasgow Kiss

Ok boys and girls, right here we have Mr. John Petrucci from a band called Dream Theater. For those of you who don't know, he's considered to be one of the guitar gods of our era. Hahah. Well don't fancy that, if you put enough effort and heart of course you can be just as good as he is.

On guitars is obviously John Petrucci, on drums is Mike Portnoy who is also another member of Dream Theater. But not too sure who's the guy on bass though. But he has a kickass bass tone.

Yesterday most of the bands already had gone to the meeting and mostly likely the presale tickets should be well distributed among the bands. Ok boys and girls, we're back for another update on things. Yesterday we had a good set on Metalgodz even though the turnout wasn't that great. But before we came on to the stage, some members of Shadows Embrace were pretty upset due to us being slot back to the closing band. Yep it was done at a very last minute. So yeah, why not to be upset. Well anyways we would like to thank all those who stayed behind. Both headbanging and the ones sitting. Cause performing to walls and concrete is just about the same as going to a jamming session.

Christ Illusion marks the long-awaited return of the legendary Slayer. Its first record in five years and its first record in fifteen years with the original band line-up, Christ Illusion is a cacophony of brutality. A soundtrack for the post-Apocalypse. Steeped in scorching riffs and a litany of menacing tracks/tirades on religion and violence, Slayer forges ahead on its devastating path of aural destruction with ten new songs, each charged with the electric hostility for which Slayer is renowned. Of the record Kerry King is ecstatic: ?'I love it. I really like God Hates Us All and I think that's the best record we've done in my opinion since Seasons In The Abyss, and I like this better than that one. I think it's a more complete record, I think sonically it better: all the performances are awesome. I think this one is more intense not because we're trying to do "Reign In Blood: The Sequel," it's just that's where our writing is taking us now."

Songs like the "Flesh Storm," "Eyes of the Insane," "Skeleton Christ," "Jihad" and the first single, "Cult" showcase the band at its most blazing intensity. The sonic excitement of speed, propelled by King, Hanneman and Lombardo and lead by the immutable roar of Tom Araya provoke the listener with Slayer's trademark fascination with terror, violence and religion. For as long as Slayer has been making records it has been surrounded by controversy. Since the band recorded its first album, "Show No Mercy," Slayer has been plagued with accusations of Satanism, fascism, racism and so on. Christ Illusion gives no quarter to critics who would mindlessly attack the band for, what the Germans call, "der Reiz des Unbekannten" (meaning "the attraction of the unknown"). A lyric fascination with violence and terror which guitarist King enthusiastically describes this way: "When I was I kid I would see a horror movie over a love story. Being shocked, being in an environment that's not reality might be frightening but is cool nonetheless. With a lot of our songs we put people in that place. It doesn't bother me because I enjoy it. It could easily be programming from all the fucking news channels." Slayer is often assailed for its subject matter, though the band is unrepentant. According to Araya, "Violence, darkness' So much of my inspiration comes from news articles or pictures and just start describing the images. Television- A&E, the History Channel, Court TV, Documentaries."

The singer continues, "With this record, as far as a theme: there is none. That's just our favorite subject matter. The common thread is death. I think that's just a common thread in general: we all share death, and we all share it at different times in different ways, but it's the one thing that we all have in common. We all die. It's how we live that makes us different." Beyond being controversial Slayer is an exceptional force in music, highly praised for its trailblazing style of fast, heavy and aggressive music yet bristling with melody. The much-heralded return of Dave Lombardo to the drummer's throne will leave fans gasping for breath as he clobbers the listener on song after song. Commenting on Lombardo's return to the fold, King notes, "Not to say the shine's worn off, but it's old news to us. I think the thing the kids are going to get into, besides just being the first Slayer album in five years, is that Dave's on it. When he came back he wasn't a member, he just came back to do a couple of tours and people started asking back then "Is he gonna hang around"? And I would tell them that was up to Dave. But I could tell that Dave was having a killer time." King confided. "So it was just a matter of time before he said, "Yeah, let's do it!" But it's great. And now that he's got a new Slayer album that he's played on, I think he's going to get some more enjoyment out of playing. He takes pride in everything he does and it's awesome to have him back with us."

Having the original members record their first album together in fifteen years is certainly newsworthy but the lasting might of the band and its continued popularity is an achievement few can boast. For each of the members, the band is resolute. There is no other band like Slayer. "The staying power behind Slayer is that we've stuck to our guns," Says Araya. "Integrity" that would be number one. A lot of it has to do with the fact that we've stuck to what we do best. And the fact that we've been together as a band for so long. Ten years with Dave; another ten without Dave; and now Dave's back. It has a lot to do with compromise, that's just the way it has to be. You have to be able to compromise and give and take and that has a lot to do with why we're still together and a force to be reckoned with. I've learned that without each other, Slayer wouldn't exist, and that the whole is greater than its parts." Kerry King is far more succinct. "Slayer to me is the coolest band on the planet. There is a timeless quality to Slayer. It's cool, but I can't explain it. It's our life."

Slayer has created one mesmerizing record after the next, has influenced many of today's most successful bands, including Slipknot, Sepultura, Killswitch Engage, and continues to earn new generations of fans, while staying true to its ceaselessly devoted followers. Assalamu'alaikum, sebelum g Mekah, mari kita ambik iktibar dulu ye.....

Sebagai seorang anak yang berbakti kepada orang tuanya, Hasan mengajak ibunya untuk menunaikan rukun Islam yang kelima. Sarah; sang Ibu, tentu senang dengan ajakan anaknya itu. Sebagai muslim yang mampu secara material,mereka memang berkewajiban menunaikan ibadah Haji. Segala kelengkapan sudah disiapkan.

Ibu ini akhirnya berangkat ke tanah suci. Keadaan keduanya sihat walafiat, tak kurang satu apa pun. Tiba harinya mereka melakukan tawaf dengan hati dan niat ikhlas menyeru panggilan Allah, Tuhan Semesta Alam. "Labbaikallahummalabbait, aku datang memenuhi seruanMu ya Allah".

Hasan menggendeng ibunya dan berbisik, "Ummi undzur ila Ka'bah (Bu,lihatlah Ka'bah)" Hasan menunjuk kepada bangunan empat persegi berwarna hitam itu. Ibunya yang berjalan di sisi anaknya tak beraksi dia terdiam. Perempuan itu sama sekali tidak melihat apa yang ditunjukkan oleh anaknya.

Hasan kembali membisiki ibunya. Ia tampak bingung melihat raut wajah ibunya. Di wajah ibunya tampak kebingungan. Ibunya sendiri tak mengerti mengapa ia tak bisa melihat apapun selain kegelapan. Beberapakali ia mengusap-usap matanya, tetapi kembali yang tampak hanyalah kegelapan.

Padahal, tak ada masalah dengan kesihatan matanya. Beberapa minit yang lalu dia masih melihat segalanya dengan jelas, tapi mengapa memasuki Masjidil Haram segalanya menjadi gelap gulita. Tujuh kali Haji, anak yang soleh itu bersimpuh di hadapan Allah. Ia solat memohon ampunan-Nya.

Hati Hasan begitu sedih. Siapa pun yang datang ke Baitullah, mengharap rahmatNYA. Terasa hampa menjadi tamu Allah, tanpa menyaksikan segala kebesaran-Nya, tanpa merasakan kuasa-Nya dan juga rahmat-Nya.

Hasan tidak berkecil hati, mungkin dengan ibadah dan taubatnya yang sungguh-sungguh, Ibundanya akan dapat merasakan anugerah-Nya, dengan menatap Ka'bah, kelak. Anak yang soleh itu berniat akan kembali membawa ibunya berhaji tahun depan. Ternyata nasib baik belum berpihak kepadanya.

Tahun berikutnya kejadian serupa terulang lagi. Ibunya kembali dibutakan di depan Ka'bah, sehingga tak dapat menyaksikan bangunan yang merupakan symbol persatuan umat Islam itu. Wanita itu tidak dapat melihat Ka'bah. Hasan tidak patah arang. Ia kembali membawa ibunya ke tanah suci tahun berikutnya.

Anehnya, ibunya tetap saja tak dapat melihat Ka'bah. Setiap berada di Masjidil Haram, yang tampak di matanya hanyalah gelap dan gelap.

Begitulah keganjilan yang terjadi pada diri Sarah. hingga kejadian itu berulang sampai tujuh kali menunaikan ibadah haji.Hasan tak habis fikir, dia tak mengerti, apa yang menyebabkan ibunya menjadi buta di depan Ka'bah.

Padahal, setiap kali berada jauh dari Ka'bah, penglihatannya selalu normal. Dia bertanya-tanya, apakah ibunya punya kesalahan sehingga mendapat azab dari Allah SWT? Apa yang telah diperlakukan ibunya, sehingga mendapat musibah seperti itu ? Segala pertanyaan berkecamuk dalam dirinya.

Akhirnya diputuskannya untuk mencari seorang alim ulama, yang dapat membantu permasalahannya.

Beberapa saat kemudian ia mendengar ada seorang ulama yang terkenal kerana kesolehannya dan kebaikannya di Abu Dhabi (Uni Emirat). Tanpa kesulitan bererti, Hasan dapat bertemu dengan ulama yang dimaksud. Ia pun mengutarakan masalah kepada ulama yang soleh ini. Ulama itu mendengarkan dengan saksama, kemudian meminta agar Ibu Hasan perlu menelefonnya. Anak yang berbakti ini pun pulang. Setibanya di tanah kelahirannya, dia meminta
ibunya untuk menghubungi ulama di Abu Dhabi tersebut.

Beruntung, sang Ibu mau memenuhi permintaan anaknya. Ia pun menelefon ulama itu, dan menceritakan kembali peristiwa yang dialaminya di tanah suci. Ulama itu kemudian meminta Sarah mengingat kembali, mungkin ada perbuatan atau peristiwa yang terjadi padanya di masa lalu, sehingga ia tidak mendapat rahmat Allah.

Sarah diminta untuk bersikap terbuka, mengatakan dengan jujur, apa yang telah dilakukannya. "Anda harus berterus-terang kepada saya, karana masalah anda bukan masalah senang," kata ulama itu pada Sarah. Sarah terdiam sejenak. Kemudian dia meminta waktu untuk memikirkannya. Tujuh hari berlalu, akan tetapi ulama itu tidak mendapat sebarang khabar dari Sarah.

Pada minggu kedua setelah percakapan pertama mereka, akhirnya Sarah menelefon. "Ustaz, waktu masih muda, saya bekerja sebagai jururawat di rumah sakit," cerita Sarah akhirnya.

"Oh, bagus.....Pekerjaan jururawat adalah pekerjaan mulia," potong ulama itu. "Tapi saya mencari wang sebanyak-banyaknya dengan berbagai cara, tidak peduli, apakah cara saya itu
halal atau haram," ungkapnya terus terang. Ulama itu terkejut. Ia tidak menyangka wanita itu akan berkata demikian.

"Disana...." sambung Sarah, "Saya seringkali menukar bayi, karana tidak semua ibu senang dengan bayi yang telah dilahirkan. Kalau ada yang menginginkan anak laki-laki, padahal bayi yang dilahirkannya perempuan, dengan imbuhan wang, saya tukar bayi-bayi itu sesuai dengan keinginan mereka."

Ulama tersebut amat terkejut mendengar penjelasan Sarah.
"Astagfirullah......" betapa tega wanita itu menyakiti hati para ibu yang diberi amanah Allah untuk melahirkan anak.
bayangkan, betapa banyak keluarga yang telah dirosaknya, sehingga tidak jelas nasabnya. Apakah Sarah tidak tahu, bahawa dalam Islam menjaga nasab atau keturunan sangat penting.
Jika seorang bayi ditukar, tentu nasabnya menjadi tidak jelas.

Padahal, nasab ini sangat menentukan dalam perkawinan, terutama dalam masalah mahram atau muhrim, iaitu orang-orang yang tidak boleh dinikahi."Cuma itu yang saya lakukan," ucap Sarah. "Cuma itu?" tanya ulama terperanjat.

"Tahukah anda bahawa perbuatan anda itu dosa yang luar biasa, betapa banyak keluarga yang sudah anda hancurkan!" ucap ulama dengan nada tinggi."Lalu apa lagi yang anda kerjakan?

"Tanya ulama itu lagi sedikit kesal. "Di rumah sakit, saya juga
melakukan tugas memandikan orang mati."
"Oh bagus, itu juga pekerjaan mulia," kata ulama. "Ya, tapi saya memandikan orang mati karana ada kerjasama dengan tukang sihir."

"Maksudnya?" tanya ulama tidak mengerti. "Setiap saya bermaksud menyengsarakan orang, baik membuatnya mati atau sakit, segala perkakas sihir itu sesuai dengan syaratnya, harus dipendam di dalam tanah. Akan tetapi saya tidak menguburnya di dalam tanah, melainkan saya masukkan benda-benda itu ke dalam mulut orang yang mati."

"Suatu kali, pernah seorang alim meninggal dunia. Seperti biasa, saya memasukkan berbagai barang-barang tenung seperti jarum, benang dan lain-lain ke dalam mulutnya. Entah mengapa benda-benda itu seperti terpental, tidak hendak masuk, walaupun saya sudah menekannya dalam-dalam.

Benda-benda itu selalu kembali keluar. Saya cuba lagi begitu seterusnya berulang-ulang. Akhirnya, emosi saya memuncak, saya masukkan benda itu dan saya jahit mulutnya. Cuma itu dosa yang saya lakukan." Mendengar pertuturan Sarah yang datar dan tanpa rasa dosa, ulama itu berteriak marah.

"Cuma itu yang kamu lakukan?"."Masya Allah...!!!Saya tidak dapat bantu anda. Saya angkat tangan".Ulama itu amat sangat terkejutnya mengetahui perbuatan Sarah. Tidak pernah terbayang dalam hidupnya ada seorang manusia, apalagi dia adalah wanita, yang memiliki nurani begitu tega, begitu keji.

Tidak pernah terjadi dalam hidupnya, ada wanita yang melakukan perbuatan sekeji itu. Akhirnya ulama itu berkata, "Anda harus memohon ampun kepada Allah, kerana hanya Dialah yang dapat mengampuni dosa Anda."

Setelah beberapa lama, sekitar tujuh hari kemudian ulama tidak mendengar khabar selanjutnya dari Sarah. Akhirnya ia mendapat tahu dengan menghubunginya melalui telepon. Ia berharap Sarah telah bertaubat atas segala yang telah diperbuatnya.Ia berharap Allah akan mengampuni dosa Sarah, sehingga Rahmat Allah datang kepadanya.Kerana tak juga memperoleh khabar, ulama itu menghubungi keluarga Hasan di Mesir.

Kebetulan yang menerima telepon adalah Hasan sendiri. Ulama menanyakan khabar Sarah,ternyata khabar duka yang diterima ulama itu. "Ummi sudah meninggal dua hari setelah menelefon ustad," ujar Hasan. Ulama itu terkejut mendengar khabar tersebut. "Bagaimana ibumu meninggal, Hasan?". Tanya ulama itu.

Hasan pun akhirnya bercerita : Setelah menelefon ulama, dua hari kemudian ibunya jatuh sakit dan meninggal dunia. Yang mengejutkan adalah peristiwa penguburan Sarah.

Ketika tanah sudah digali, untuk kemudian dimasukkan jenazah atas izin Allah, tanah itu rapat kembali, tertutup dan mengeras. Para penggali mencari lokasi lain untuk digali. Peristiwa itu berulang kembali. Tanah yang sudah digali kembali menyempit dan tertutup rapat. Peristiwa itu berlangsung begitu cepat, sehingga tidak seorangpun penghantar jenazah yang menyedari bahawa tanah itu kembali rapat.

Peristiwa itu terjadi berulang-ulang. Para penghantar yang menyaksikan peristiwa itu merasa ngeri dan merasakan sesuatu yang aneh terjadi.Mereka yakin, kejadian tersebut pastilah berkaitan dengan perbuatan si mayat.

Waktu terus berlalu, para penggali kubur putus-asa kerana pekerjaan mereka tak juga selesai. Siang pun berlalu, petang menjelang, bahkan sampai hampir maghrib, tidak ada satu pun lubang yang berhasil digali. Mereka akhirnya pasrah, dan beranjak pulang. Jenazah itu dibiarkan saja tergeletak di hamparan tanah kering kerontang.

Sebagai anak yang begitu sayang dan hormat kepada ibunya, Hasan tidak tega meninggalkan jenazah orang tuanya ditempat itu tanpa dikubur. Kalaupun dibawa pulang, rasanya tidak mungkin. Hasan termenung di tanah perkuburan seorang diri. Dengan izin Allah, tiba-tiba berdiri seorang laki-laki yang berpakaian hitam panjang, seperti pakaian khusus orang Mesir.

Lelaki itu tidak tampak wajahnya, kerana terhalang tutup kepalanya yang menjorok ke depan. Laki-laki itu mendekati Hasan kemudian berkata padanya,"Biar aku tangani jenazah ibumu, pulanglah!". kata orang itu.

Hasan lega mendengar bantuan orang tersebut, Ia berharap laki-laki itu akan menunggu jenazah ibunya, menggali lubang dan kemudian mengebumikan ibunya. "Aku minta supaya kau jangan menengok ke belakang, sampai tiba di rumahmu,"pesan lelaki itu. Hasan mengangguk, kemudian ia meninggalkan pemakaman. Belum sempat ia di luar lokasi pemakaman,terselit keinginannya untuk mengetahui apa yang terjadi dengan jenazah ibunya.

Sedetik kemudian ia menengok ke belakang. Betapa pucat wajah Hasan, melihat jenazah ibunya sudah dililit api, kemudian api itu menyelimuti seluruh tubuh ibunya. Belum habis rasa herannya, sedetik kemudian dari arah yang berlawanan, api menerpa wajah Hasan. Hasan ketakutan. Dengan langkah seribu, dia pun bergegas meninggalkan tempat itu.

Demikian yang diceritakan Hasan kepada ulama itu. Hasan juga mengaku, bahwa separuh wajahnya yang tertampar api itu kini berbekas kehitaman kerana terbakar.

Ulama itu mendengarkan dengan seksama semua cerita yang diungkapkan Hasan. Dia menyarankan, agar Hasan segera beribadah dengan khusyuk dan meminta ampun atas segala perbuatan atau dosa-dosa yang pernah dilakukan oleh ibunya. Akan tetapi, ulama itu tidak menceritakan kepada Hasan, apa yang telah diceritakan oleh ibunya kepada ulama itu. Ulama itu meyakinkan Hasan, bahwa apabila anak yang soleh itu memohon ampun dengan sungguh-sungguh, maka bekas luka di pipinya dengan izin Allah akan hilang.

Benar saja,tak berapa lama kemudian Hasan kembali memberitahu ulama itu, bahawa lukanya yang dulu amat terasa sakit dan panas luar biasa, semakin hari bekas kehitamannya hilang. Tanpa tahu apa yang telah dilakukan ibunya selama hidup, Hasan tetap mendoakan ibunya. Ia berharap, apapun perbuatan dosa yang telah dilakukan oleh ibunya, akan diampuni oleh Allah SWT.

Semoga kisah nyata dari Mesir ini bisa menjadi pelajaran bagi kita semua. Wang $500 atau $50 kelihatan begitu besar bila dibawa ke kotak derma masjid, tetapi begitu kecil bila kita bawa ke supermarket. 45 minit terasa terlalu lama untuk berzikir tapi betapa pendeknya waktu itu untuk pertandingan bola sepak. Semua insan ingin memasuki syurga tetapi tidak
ramai yang berfikir dan berbicara tentang bagaimana untuk memasukinya.

Kita mengirimkan ribuan 'jokes' dan 'surat berantai' melalui e-mail tetapi bila mengirimkan yang berkaitan dengan ibadah seringkali berfikir 2 atau 3 kali.

Ok boys and girls, it's time for some music lessons. Honestly how many musicians out there in the scene really knows how to play their instruments? Some of them can't even play for shit and they think they know everything.

Over here we have Angela Gossow from Arch Enemy taking vocal lessons Melissa Cross. Yes to sing or gore good, you can't just dash it out on your throat. Theres a right way to do it and also a wrong one. Did you know Randy Blythe from Lamb Of God also took vocal lessons?

Now here we have Matt and Corey from Trivium giving some guitar warm up techniques and also some lessons on how to play some of their songs.

Ok done with the guitars. Now don't think for one second that if you can play a solo on your guitar that makes you some kind of King or Guitar God! Cause without the bass to back you up, your nothing but a dry paper towel. Period! Here are some lessons from Victor Wooten and also a video by John Myung of Dream Theater, showing what you can do with some bass harmonics

Finally we have reached to the drum lesson part! Try to ask yourself this, how many drummers in the scene especially the regulars who performs at I.J. knows how to tune the drums? That's a good question isn't it? But then again people don't really care that much do they? But if you don't wanna learn, then keep watching.

Once again I would like to highlight the opening of registration for “STAR
SUPERBAND 2006”

A contest with two to five piece bands
Each group 20 mins performances of different genre
10 or 20mins of English is compulsory and 10mins of other language is
optional
Original or covers songs are expectable
Minimum age 16 years and above
Drum set, keyboard, 2 guitar amps and 1guitar bass amp will be provided

The Contest Schedule
August: Preview shows-choose your own dates for the previews
“First come First choose date”
September: 1st knock out round & October: 2nd knock out round
November: 1st Concert & December: Final Concert
Any withdrawal during the knockout round is allowed. No compensation refund.

The top 10 Bands will get a profit share of the ticket sales from the
Finals Concert depending on the position of the contest.

The group album will be sold during the 2 concerts and a 50% cut after
production cost will be given to each band concerned.

The top 10 bands will be given 1 year performance contract with Chinatown
Cabaret.
The winning band will also get a chance to perform oversea.

so the rumour mill has been working overtime.

lets get it straight. im very closely affiliated to the owner of IJ as some of you are too, and might know.

IJ studios is temporarily suspended, yes. why? on 11 June there was a show called METALCORE vs PUNKROCK and there was a case of bullying and an eventual fight. there has been a few scuffles at shows there yes but that one took the cake because
1) when volunteers come down to 'jaga' IJ in case of trouble nothing happens, but on that day when all the volunteers were busy shit had to happen
2) apparently a fight , of which i only have second-hand info of, took place and was caught on the building CCTV. IJ owner, "Abang Wan", the management and the cops were called in.

cops locked the place up and the venue will remain sealed until the case is settled. as a result, Wan has been smacked with a $300 fine due to the crap that happened. fights, vandalism (which fucker burnt the washing machine anyway?), dustbins thrown to the first level, blah blah.

i am fucking pissed off. because i have always encouraged and advised people to take care of the space and be responsible whether yr an organizer, band or paying member of the audience.

i was surprised to know that all the footage of kids playing with the industrial lift, drinking, loitering, smoking in the common area fell under the NO PROBLEM category. that shows that building management has been very lenient with us. so if they had to shut the space down it means things went too far right?

so promoters/bands/people reading this, please take note. IJ Studios, or any other gig space, is not only Wan's responsibility, its mine and it is yours. the space has been abused and Wan has to take the shit for it. is it fair? you tell me.

i have also heard a lot of rumours about bastards accusing Wan of running away with gig money and all that. thats a load of utter crap. me and my friends have done shows and recording sessions many many times there before and he has never been calculative about money. yes it is hot as fuck there and yes equipment fucks up time to time but i have never been happier with a space as cheap, lenient and understanding to the scene as IJ.

people had better sit up and take notice and do something and get some sense knocked into their heads. for once i refuse to blame the cops for any problems should (choy choy) the space be shut down, because the roots of the problem are all down to our own idiocy.

11 June is not a one off problem. shit has happened many many times. there was even a time where the security guard was almost beaten up by a 'fashioncore kid'. WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS?!

punks thrashers hc kids come down in droves at every show and as 'threatening' as they look there has been no problems at all.

i could list down names that have been 'paotoh-ed' that has led to this shit. you people better wake up your idea because if the space shuts down, you fuckers have a lot to answer for.

spread this all around on your kiddy forums and e-groups, i dont give a shit. lets solve this problem before it becomes a permanent predicament.

Once, IJ Studio is one of the few studios in Singapore where Extreme Metal, especially BM can be recorded. Now, there are a dozen around. There is no use staying in Singapore with the expensive rent that he could use to pay for 2 months rent in JB.

IJ Studio has always and will always be the place where Extreme Metallers gather once and have their materials rekorded, now its infested with full of HC, Emo, Indie skumz.

Five years ago, James Hetfield would not have been awake or sober enough to get into the studio at 9 a.m., but that's where he's frequently found himself as work continues on Metallica's new album. "I would have been going to bed at 9 a.m., not going to work," he tells Billboard.

Things have changed for Hetfield, who has been sober for nearly five years. On May 12, he will receive an honor he says he is more proud of than any career achievement. The MusiCares MAP Fund, a non-profit organization aimed at helping music industry professionals with addiction recovery treatment, will present Hetfield with the Stevie Ray Vaughan Award for his "devotion to helping other addicts with the recovery process" during its second annual benefit concert at the Music Box/Henry Fonda Theater in Hollywood.

"I don't believe that you have to walk straight into the fire to know how hot it is," Hetfield says. "That was my path. The biggest awareness is that you're not alone and that there is some help. When people get so far into it, where they feel their life isn't worth anything, that's too far. But, you can survive it. That's important to know."

Hetfield admits the process of making an album while sober is "very different because there is a lot more awareness of what we are doing and sometimes over-thinking it. Now we are very present for it all and I'm not afraid to do or try anything musically."

But he says the current project, which is being produced by Rick Rubin, is "going great because everyone is present and everyone is enjoying the process. The process is a lot easier. [Drummer] Lars [Ulrich] and I would butt heads daily. It would be going to war every day. You'd suit up in your armor before you go in the studio. Battling back and forth. Now it's helping each other do the best of their ability. It's all moving toward the same goal instead of pulling back."

Rakaman ini dipetik dari program Motivasi Pagi -TV 3 (6.30 pagi) oleh Ustazah Noorbayah Mahmood.

Seorang gadis datang menemui Rasulullah dengan tangan kanannya disorokkan ke dalam poket bajunya. Dari raut wajahnya, anak gadis ini sedang menanggung kesakitan yang amat sangat. Lalu Rasulullah menegurnya.

"Wahai anakku, kenapa wajahmu menampakkan kamu sedang kesakitan dan apa yang kamu sorokkan di tanganmu?"

Lalu gadis malanginipun menceritakan hal yang berlaku padanya :-

"Ya,Rasulullah, sesungguhnya aku adalah anak yatim piatu. Malam tadi aku telah bermimpi dan mimpiku itu telah membuatkan aku menanggung kesakitan ini." Balas gadis tadi.

"Jika tidak jadi keberatan, ceritakanlah mimpimu itu wahai anakku."

Rasulullah mula tertarik dengan penjelasan gadis tersebut."Aku bermimpi berjumpa ibuku di dalam neraka.

Keadaannya amat menyedihkan. Ibuku meminta diberikan air kerana dia amat dahaga kerana kepanasan api neraka itu hingga peluh tidak sempat keluar kerana kekeringan sekelip mata." Gadis itu berhenti seketika menahan sebak.

"Kemudian kulihat ditangan kirinya ada seketul keju dan ditangan kanannya ada sehelai tuala kecil.Beliau mengibas-ngibaskan kedua-dua benda tersebut untuk menghalang api dari membakar tubuhnya. Lantas aku bertanya ibuku, kenapa dia menerima balasan sebegitu rupa sedangkan ketika hidupnya ibuku adalah seorang hamba yang patuh dengan ajaran islam dan isteri yang taat kepada suaminya?

Lalu ibuku memberitahu bahawa ketika hidupnya dia amat bakhil. Hanya dua benda itu sahaja iaitu seketul keju dan sehelai tuala kecil pernah disedekahkan kepada fakir. Yang lainnya hanya untuk bermuka-muka dan menunjukkan kelebihan hartanya sahaja.

Lalu aku terus mencari ayahku. Rupanya beliau berada di syurga dan sedang menjamu penghuni syurga dengan makanan yang lazat dan minuman dari telaga nabi.

If he could only talk, what would he say? A pregnant, 40 years old Iraqi woman was shot by US military on August 10th, 2005 in the city of Mosul, northern Iraq, while in front of her house. The woman, who was in her 32nd week of pregnancy,
was hit in her abdomen and collapsed immediately. As usual, US troops looked carelessly and walked away, not offering any help or medical care.

Hey there boys and girls. If you are wondering, this blog hasn't a had a post for quite sometime. Well we got a good explanation for that. For some reason the people at Blogger created this anti-spam bot for blogspots. As the name says it, this so called cyber robot's job was to detect and prevent spam blogs. We're not really sure how possible a spam virus or program could actually do such a thing. Which in this case creating a full publish blogspot. So what does all these have to do with us?

Well this bloody robot is so smart that it actually thought the whole blog was created by spam! For God sakes! What the hell is wrong with you! Can't you see that most of the post are hand-typed by an actual human! Oh well it's no use for us venting on it because it's a freaking program itself and it doesn't actually have any feelings. So why bother. Ok moving on.

As any fan of the genre will tell you, there's Death Metal and then there's Real Death Metal. Plain ol' Death Metal is a scene populated by those content to follow established patterns, basing their sound on the blueprint of years gone by and expecting little more than the acknowledgement and respect of their peers.

Real Death Metal however is a more sparsely filled enviroment, inhabitated by those who have desire to take the sound and attitude that little bit further. Bands residing here use imagination, ability and undiluted belief to get where they are going. It is such a world that Polish four piece Decapitated choose to call home, and it is a world they are seeking to dominate with their distinctive brand of technically flawless Death Metal.

Decapitated are not what you might call your average band - formed in 1996 when the average age of the band was just 14 years old, based in Krosno, Southern Poland, all attending music school yet facing ridicule with the release of their 'Cemeteral Gardens' demo in June '97 due to their young age, they succeeded in wiping the smiles from the doubters faces with a sound that, whilst showing a debt to Death Metal heroes of the past, convinced many that the band were out of the ordinary.

Following up the demo with another in October '98 titled 'The Eye of Horus', the band's abilities really began to shine, the music school committment obviously reaping benefits. Many people focused on Decapitated's age as a reason to doubt them - the fact was that the band were already becoming an established live act throughout Poland, and in working so hard on the road had earned themselves a cult reputation as genuine contenders rather than simple novelties.

The underground mumurings were not lost on the major Metal labels, and eventually Decapitated signed with Wicked World/Earache for the release of the debut album, 'Winds of Creation.' Issued in April 2000, the record immediately struck a chord with Death Metal fans everywhere, and the band began to be hailed as potential big league players. The technical tightness on display and the simple honest conviction that that band displayed were enough to convince many, and the albums standout tracks such as 'Blessed' and 'Way to Salvation' proved that despite their young age, Decapitated were ready to challenge Death Metal's big guns.

Decapitated toured the UK with grind all-stars Lock Up upon the release of 'Winds of Creation' to a phonemenal response, which eventually led to the band being voted 'Best Newcomer' in Terrorizer Magazine's 2000 Reader's Poll, and a further European tour in 2001 with Immolation continued to spread the word. Anticipation was high for a new recording.........

And so at the ripe old average age of 20, Decapitated have finally delivered what they have been promising all along - a geuninely creative Death Metal album. 'Nihility' is a record that twists and turns, each track crafted and skilled into what is fast becoming a trademark Decapitated sound.

Like most great albums, there is no one element that defines the whole, instead each component, from the complexity and inventiveness of the drum work to the colossal progessiveness displayed by the guitar playing contributes to the overwhelming aura around the record, the knowledge that this is something very special indeed.

And so Decapitated are silencing the doubters and quietly staking their claim for prominence in what is rapidly becoming a New Wave of Death Metal. Special bands like Decapitated don't come along very often, and when they do, they tend to let the music do the talking - which is something Decapitated do in the most vicious, precise and innovative way possible..

American Head Charge, the Minneapolis-based industrial metal band, which had its genesis nine years ago when Martin Cock (then known as Cameron Heacock) and Chad Hanks (now known as Mr. H.C. Banks III) first crossed paths in a Minnesota rehab facility, has up to now been known primarily for the radically dysfunctional behavior of the band members.
?We were definitely out of control on our first tour, Ozzfest 2001,? Mr. Banks admits. ?It wasn?t enough to just play our music; we also had to fire shotguns on stage and throw pigheads at the crowd. Chalk it up to a desperate bid for attention.? The Head Charge rap sheet ? which also includes getting into bloody brawls with their fans, smashing equipment they couldn?t afford to replace, reacquainting themselves with hard drugs and occasionally being locked up by the enraged fuzz ? has served to obscure the fact that these free spirits play the shit out of their instruments and make brutally powerful music of uncommon distinction.

But this distorted (though hardly inaccurate) perception of the band will likely change with the release of The Feeding, a seething mass of avant metal, nightmare grindcore and moshpit rock that alternates between pummeling ferocity and passages of all-out grandeur. It?s a stunning display of primally extreme music that?s guaranteed to scare the hell out of your parents

The album had its genesis during the limbo in which AHC found themselves after touring intensively behind their acclaimed 2001 debut, The War of Art ? two years of prolonged exile from the road and ongoing internal tumult that found several bandmembers in a virtual death match with their personal demons. ?Three guys in the band jumped into the chemical deep end and two of them went back to rehab,? guitarist Bryan Ottoson ruefully recounts. ?It got so bad I was nearly checked into a psychiatric unit for suicidal behavior.?

Inevitably, their struggles begat rage, and that could?ve paralyzed them. But what sets Head Charge apart is an almost alchemical ability to transform their rage ? at the world, each other and (perhaps most of all) themselves ? into dark art. Hence, the worse their situation got, the more inspired they became, as singer Cock and bassist/guitarist Mr. Banks ? now collaborating with Ottoson and keyboard manipulator Justin Fowler -- stirred up a cauldron of new songs and brought them to seething life with drummer Christopher Emery. While the band?s old label turned a deaf ear to their bold sonic forays, emerging producer Greg Fidelman, who?d engineered the Rick Rubin-produced first album, embraced the band?s new material. The band managed to get out of their deal, and sign with Nitrus/DRT. ?Rick Rubin was gracious enough to let us leave American Recordings without hassle. It could have been a litigious nightmare,? adds Mr. Banks.

With Fidelman at the helm, Head Charge spent four months on the album, and it evidences an unlikely, previously dormant self-discipline. Tellingly, whereas the sprawling The War of Art ran well over an hour, as if they could barely control their wild-eyed impulses, The Feeding clocks in at a dense 41 minutes, the compression serving to intensify their fury. The opener and first single ?Loyalty? sets the record?s brutal tone, as Cock spews recriminations with frightful conviction while also revealing a scarred humanity in his natural voice, a captivating tenor that sounds like the troubled emanations of some fallen angel. ?Dirty? would be an infectious, balls-out rocker were it not for Cock?s Satanic howling, which transforms it into the soundtrack to an exorcism. ?Walk Away? delivers a hyper-melodic, gloriously anthemic chorus, then proceeds to hack it to pieces in characteristically deranged fashion. Easy listening this ain?t. And yet the closing ?To Be Me? achieves something close to serenity, like the eerie calm after a thunderstorm?or a nuclear holocaust. ?It?s almost hopeful,? Mr. Banks acknowledges, sounding like he can hardly believe it himself.

There?s a line in ?Walk Away? that perfectly encapsulates this tormented but inspired band: ?We?re dirty and hungry and bitter and tired and broke and bruised and battered,? Cock shrieks in agony and defiance, adding, with all due irony, ?so happy.? Although Cock is the band?s primary lyricist, it was Mr. Banks who came up with the words (he admits, quite unnecessarily, that he was in a bad state at the time). Mr. Banks recited the line his partner, who knew right away that it would drop right into the hole he was looking to fill in the song?s crucial bridge section. ?For a while,? Mr. Banks says, ?that?s what we wanted to call the album ? with no spaces between the words. It just says it all.?

Also in the cosmic coincidence department is the filigreed, intertwined guitar figure that opens and closes the boldly provocative ?Ridiculed,? The Feeding?s roiling centerpiece. The part is actually two guitars, and the parts were conjured up simultaneously by Ottoson and Cock ? in two separate parts of the studio, out of hearing of each other. At the same moment, each of them entered the main room eager to play their new creations to the other band members and Fidelman. Only then did everyone realize that the two parts magically interlocked. Divine intervention? With this crew, that?s highly unlikely ? unless God has a truly twisted sense of humor (and with AHC there?s plenty of circumstantial evidence to support that hypothesis).

Mr. Banks describes his band?s dynamic as ?a constant battle between Order and Chaos,? and that?s an apt description of the corrosive yet savagely beautiful sonic onslaught AHC delivers on The Feeding. In the end, Order prevails ? if just barely ? which is a good thing for American Head Charge and their ever-growing legion of fans. If Chaos had come out on top, this dangerously self-destructive but supremely talented band would?ve surely imploded, leaving nothing but wrecked gear, lost souls and mangled body parts. Instead, with all their limbs still attached and pulsing with the endorphins of catharsis, AHC will spend 2005 on the road ? and this time, hopefully, not the road to perdition.

Slipknot were honored with a Grammy in the "Best Metal Performance" category at the 48th annual Grammy Awards, which were held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles Wednesday night (February 8).

The Iowa-based band, who were nominated for the sixth consecutive year, won for their single "Before I Forget", from the group's third album, "Vol. 3: (The Subliminal Verses)". Other nominees in the "Best Metal Performance" category included songs by Ministry, Mudvayne, Rammstein and Shadows Fall -- all bands that Slipknot have toured with.

The band arrived to the ceremony in their trademark masks.

To one and all,

I am writing this urgent appeal on behalf of a very
dear friend. She has asked me to look around for
help as she is running out of options and very, very
desperate.

My friend's 9 year old son was involved in a very
serious accident in Holland about 2 weeks ago and
is in a coma.

Her son needs to have 5 operations as the damage
to that poor boy, whom I know very well, is
extremely bad and life-threatening.

My friend has managed to raise enough money to
pay for four of the operations except for the first
operation. It is unbelievable but the hospital will not
do the first operation if the money is not paid! And
due to some administrative rubbish on the
hospital's end, she cannot use some of the the
money she has already paid for the other four
operations, for the first operation!!

My friend is a single mother barely managing to
survive with her current job and her son, her only
child, means the life to her. In her desperate state,
she was even willing to sell herself to raise the
money but I've managed to talk her out of it. For
now. I'm not sure if I can succeed if it happens
again. I can fully understand her desperation. I'm
sure you can also understand her desperation to
save her son's life.

My friend needs S$3000 more for the first
operation as soon as possible as the minutes are
ticking.

Anyways if your a regular gig goer especially to the metal, hardcore, screamo or what have you, you do realise that Singapore's moshing is pretty stagnant most of the time. Like if the song starts then everybody bangs on each like crash test dummies and then that's it. It's pretty rare to see some real hardcore dancing. "Where the fuck have all the riffs gone?"

That's what Matt Tuck wants to know. He and his fellow Bridgend band-mates have been listening to the radio, going to shows, and - for the last 7 years - answering that often-asked question with their own metal-clad minstrelsy known as 'Bullet for My Valentine' - one of the most intense acts to come out of Wales since mega-groups Funeral for a Friend and Lostprophets put that outer-rim of the musical galaxy on the map. But make no mistake: geography is where their similarities end. Chalk it up to teenage years spent worshipping the likes of Metallica, Testament, and the almighty Iron Maiden.

"We were all kind of bewildered by how huge those bands got," continues Tuck. "It wasn't jealousy, but we didn't see a reason why that couldn't be us."

In fact, there is no reason, because this fearsome foursome's supercharged riffage and soaring vocalsharken back to a time in the UK when how good you were had to do with how well you played - something they're convinced is lost on too many of today's flash-in-the-pan upstarts.

"We're proud to say that there isn't a single indie band in South Wales ," says guitarist

Michael 'Padge 'Padget. "I don't see how a band can stand there for 40minutes and just sing bollocks. What's the point? It's about putting on a show!"

And that attitude's already won Bullet' a coveted support-slot with American metal-beasts Chimaira on their recent stint in the UK, a tour gave them an unforgettable taste of life on the road, not to mention a bit of intimate time with each-other.

"There was the four of us stuffed in the back of arider," laughs Tuck. "We didn't mind though, we're completely committed to this, even if that did mean knowing each other a little better than we should."

But what really mattered was getting known on the road, and it wasn't long before they got the call they'd been waiting for: an opening slot at the 2004 Download Festival. But where many bands would see their invitation to the legendary home of metal as a crowning achievement, these Welshmen saw it just the beginning. Not to say they didn't "appreciate" a chance to obliterate the Barfly stage, but they've set their sights higher.

"We drove up there at dawn with music cranked right up to 11," beams bass-man Jason James. "There we were at 10 in the morning, standing on the main-stage with beers in our hands. It was like, 'well, this is it boys. This is where we're meant to be."

If that sounds arrogant to you, think again. This foursome have already experienced the kind of setbacks that would have left a lesser-band in ruins. Bullet for my Valentine were formed from the ashes of Jeff Killed John, a band that - name aside - had everything going for it; great friends, good songs, and enough experience playing 'shitty gig after shitty gig with everyone telling us to fuck off' to last them a lifetime. That is, until one day two years ago their bassist decided to quit. His timing couldn't have been worse.

"We were due to go in the studio on Saturday, and he quit on the Friday," sighs Tuck. "Everything went completely tits up, and it was a really big kick in the balls but it made us stronger."

Strong enough to recruit a new bass player, and strong enough to take a critical look at themselves and see what had gone wrong. The result was a new sound based on what they wanted to play rather than what the then nu-metal-loving media wanted to hear, a new name to fit Matt Tuck's darkly romantic lyrics, and a new lease on a career they're determined to pursue 'til the end of their days.

"Everyone's been dumped, sure they have," says Tuck. " Not everyone's been dumped by a psycho. Some of our music's actually quite uplifting, but a lot of it isn't. This IS supposed to be fun, right?"

Certainly fun enough to write songs like 'Hand of Blood', a chugging, fist-throwing, chorus-laden anthem that's already received a stunning visual treatment. Lacking the funds to put on the kind of big-budget Hollywood production they'd envisioned, the band unanimously opted for the next-best thing. That is, getting 150 people to crowd into a garage and have fake-blood rained down on them in a disco-bloodbath inspired by a scene from the Wesley Snipes Vampire flick 'Blade'. Indeed, Slayer would be proud. But like the classic-metal masterpieces that inspire them, Bullet for my Valentine don't believe in re-inventing the wheel. They've discovered the power of the riff, and they've got the balls and the bravado to see that no one soon forgets

Moshing is a type of dance characterized by jumping around and or pushing others to loud punk, hardcore, and heavy metal music. Moshing is popular with many, especially young, fans. Moshing is also gaining popularity in the Rap and Breakcore (a genre of extreme electronic dance music) scenes.

Moshing is typically done in a mosh pit or circle pit. Originally this was just a group of people typically directly in front of the stage who were engaged in this form of dancing. It is now more frequent that there are mosh or circle pits throughout the entire audience.

Mosh fashion relates to the music genre. Specifically, it began with wearing what one would wear to a concert where there would be a mosh pit.

Origins and History:

Origins:

The term "mosh" has often been credited to Vinnie Stigma of the hardcore group Agnostic Front as an acronym for "March Of Skin Heads", but most authorities cite Darryl Jennifer, bass guitarist for Bad Brains as the term's originator, from his Jamaican-accented pronunciation of the word "mash", in "Mash down Babylon." It is important to note that many early punk scenes referred to this type of dance as 'thrashing', the moshing term culturally seemed to gain significance during the hardcore metal crossover days.

History:

Mosh pits (or Circle pits) appeared in 1981, if not earlier, at a number of punk rock concerts. The dance form later spread to the heavy metal music scene, where headbanging and crowd surfing were incorporated. By the time of the Woodstock 1999 music festival, moshing had been described as a full-scale riot. To solve these problems, venues that expect moshing now typically provide crowd control, including having concert rules, removing problem-causing audience members, and a "T-barricade" that separates the pit into two halves as well as from the band.

Nirvana's successful video "Smells Like Teen Spirit" brought mosh pits to a wide mainstream audience in 1991. Possibly the most violent pit seen on screens was brought by Slipknot on their "Duality" video, in which a farmhouse is torn to pieces by hundreds of moshers.

In May 1996, The Smashing Pumpkins played a gig in The Point Depot in Dublin, Ireland. The venue was over-crowded and despite the band's repeated requests for moshing to stop, a 17-year-old fan from Cork, Bernadette O'Brien, was crushed to death. The concert ended early and the following night's performance in Belfast was cancelled out of respect for her. Billy Corgan, singer for The Smashing Pumpkins, later said that he considered quitting show business for good after the event.

Michael Moore's The Awful Truth:

In 2000, Michael Moore's The Awful Truth television show took a portable mosh pit across the United States to Iowa and challenged the candidates in the presidential primaries to dive into it. The premise was that the show would endorse any presidential hopeful crazy enough to do it. At one debate this mosh pit was called "the defining moment of the 2000 election" by New York Times columnist Gail Collins.

At a town hall event staged by Ronald Reagan's former ambassador to the United Nations' Economic and Social Council, Alan Keyes, aides went outside to investigate the commotion. When informed that Keyes could get the endorsement of "The Awful Truth with Michael Moore," Keyes' national field director dove into the pit, hoping that his actions would help win the endorsement. He then brought out another one of Keyes supporters, dressed as Uncle Sam, who also jumped in. Another supporter dressed as a shark jumped out off the stage onto a car, damaging it.

Alan Keyes, after several minutes of convincing by his daughter, dove into the mosh pit himself. He fell backwards into the screaming crowd of youths to the sound of Rage Against the Machine and surfed the crowd. After a couple of body slams with a young man from Ames High School, he left the pit with the show's endorsement.

Michael Moore said of the incident, "We knew Alan Keyes was insane. We just didn't know how insane until that moment." Details about this incident and the adventure of the portable mosh pit can be found on Mr. Moore's web site.

The only book on moshing is Moshpit Culture by Joe Ambrose, anarchist writer and collaborator with, amongst others, Iggy Pop, William Burroughs, Lydia Lunch, and Richard Hell. Ambrose's book contains a history of moshing and first hand reports from a variety of mosh subcultures, plus interviews with young moshers and members of Slipknot, Sepultura, Trail of Dead, and Soulfly.

Types of Moshing:

Moshing is a catch-all term for any dance performed in a mosh pit or circle pit at a party or dance . Certain moves are seen with certain passages of music (for example the "two-step" for floor-tom breakdowns).

Moshing can be referred to by several different names, depending upon the subculture in which it is found: hardcore dancing, throwdown, mashing, or most simply, moshing. Slam dancing is characterized by its aggressive nature: the movements consist of violent contact with other dancers - pushing and shoving other dancers and body-slamming, or throwing your body into another dancer are the normal forms of slamdancing.

Moshing means different things within different genres of music:

Breakcore, a genre of extreme electronic dance music, attracts many ex-punkers or metal heads and also their mosh-pits.

Grindcore also has its own style of dancing, often referred to as the grind (not to be confused with the urban dance style), which resembles a blend of skanking and more of a slower mosh.

Metal performances tend to the have a much larger mosh pit as these shows draw a larger crowd. See also: Speed moshing. Speed pit is a mosh pit that happens during such bands when Iced Earth and Megadeth get up on stage. The faster the metal is, the crazier it will get.

Punk rock moshing generally involves aimless slamming into one another, the pogo (jumping up and down into other people, invented by Sid Vicious of the Sex Pistols according to hearsay), and circle pitting, and is generally much less violent and dramatic than found at hardcore punk shows.

Hardcore: Hardcore dancing is much faster and formulaic. It also includes people windmilling, moves resembling aggressive breakdancing, and solitary martial arts maneuvers. These are often frowned upon by other dancers, especially if attempted at a non-hardcore concert. Another form of hardcore dancing which involves the whole mosh pit is the circle pit, in which people skank at running speed around the circumference of the pit. It can include two-steps, windmills, and swinging the arms and legs violently.

Hip hop related
The Gangsta walk, originally called the "buck jump," is circling the dance floor as quick and wild as you possibly can. First commonly seen at rap shows in the Memphis, Tennessee area.

Skank slam dancing is now seen in ska or ska-core shows.

Risks, criticism and precautions:

Although most participants consider moshing fun, minor injuries can occur and there is a risk of serious injury.

Supporters of moshing agree that there is some physical risk associated with the activity. Supporters argue that slam dancing can establish friendship and camaraderie, that reports of death or serious injury relate to crowd surfing or stage diving, completely different activities.

Critics have charged slam dancing with inciting or condoning violence. Violence on the concert floor inevitably leads to some injuries. It is argued that an escalating cycle of violence can be observed. These charges are reflected in media reports.

To many, moshing is a kind of extreme sport. Many people in the pit do believe in stimulating friendship and camaraderie. Violence is usually directed against others in the pit, and often only escalates when it is badly received by someone who is outside or not used to the pit. The pit is meant to be fun.

There tends to be some conflation between the actual dangers of moshing and the types of behavior which critics say it causes.

There are definite risks for those participating in moshing or approaching too close to the mosh pit. Many supporters actually believe that the point of moshing is its physicality and that its risks can be compared to the risks of any physically challenging sport. Some suggest there is a desire to be bruised fulfilled by mosh pits, as a form of basic stress relief.

It may be suggested that moshing reflects a modern "rite-of-passage trial" where young people choose to test their courage and strength among friends and/or strangers in an unpredictable situation teetering on the edge of anarchy.

In many Western cultures, there are very few outlets for a youth's natural inclination toward violence and the moshpit is an excellent excuse to let off steam. As it is meant to be, it is a sort of battle between consenting adults, and outside the pit there is no battle, often good friendships are struck up between "true hardcores". Violence escalates mainly when this concept is misunderstood whether it is inside or outside the pit.

Precautions:

There are some basic precautions (rules) regarding moshing:

Clothing and footwear should be appropriate for the physicality of the mosh pit.

Exposed body jewelry (piercings) may get snagged in the pit. Be sure to remove it for your own safety.

Inebriation (drunkeness) and dehydration pose real risks.

If someone falls over, stop moshing and immediately help the person get up. This is generally "pit etiquette" (However, if it is necessary, it is entirely acceptable to pull the person off the floor, rather than merely helping them up).

Remove any spike bands and jackets, joint rings, or similar jewelry before entering the pit as these could result in serious injuries.

No groping or sexual assault.

Kicking and punching is generally regarded to be a breach of pit etiquette (more commonly dubbed "pitiquette"), shoving or pushing with the forearms or elbows is preferred. This rule has an exception in hardcore pits.

Immobilizing people by grabbing their clothing is frowned upon.

People at the edge of the pit are assumed to willingly shield those outside the pit and to also keep the people inside from falling onto the ground. However this should not include shoving unwitting moshers as that may cause them to fall or shove back, usually much harder.

Do not wear glasses as they will most likely be smashed.

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. The pit is just like anywhere else in that respect, except with considerably more latitude in what is acceptable.

If you are standing at the edge, be aware that someone can hit you. If you want to do quiet activities go away from the mosh.

On the other site the mosh should take place on a flat area, because if the area is inclined toward the stage, which can be the case at open air events, the danger of injuries will be increased.

In mosh pits if someone falls over, then the rest of the people around him/her will stop and help them up. This is heavily emphasised by My Chemical Romance's lead singer Gerard Way, who, at every gig, is known to say, "If someone falls down, you pick them the f**k up!"
